Despite KSU's athletics program coming to being in 1982, Scrappy did not become KSU's official mascot until the early 1990s.

The current Scrappy we know in love debuted during a KSU homecoming event amid intercollegiate althletic's celebration of 30 years on campus in 2012 --- nearly nine years ago! Below is a video used to announce Scrappy's new look to those who couldn't attend the homecoming celebration.
